Microsoft Windows is spyware
After the January 6th fedsurrection, the Langley Boyz worked with Microsoft to scan the OneDrive files of Americans to see who was involved in the incident. Ever since Windows 95, the NSA has backdoor keys to remotely view your computer’s files, according to cybersecurity researchers who found the keys after officials forgot to delete the details, which were then exposed. Bill Gates believes in surveillance and received substantial funds to work with the NSA to spy on users.
According to the father of Linus Torvalds, the creator of Linux, the NSA approached Linus and asked him to put a backdoor into Linux. Microsoft Windows is proprietary software, meaning the code cannot be viewed by the public, so backdoors are invisible. GNU/Linux is open source, so anyone can see the code. If a backdoor is placed, it can be removed. By default, Microsoft Windows includes a keylogger, OneDrive can be viewed by the NSA, telemetry and ‘diagnostics’ spies on your user behavior, Microsoft Edge reports on you, Cortana spies on you and listens to you, and if you have your email address associated with your Microsoft account and this connected to Windows, it knows about all of your browsing history and other data. Further, many routers are compromised and not all vulnerabilities can be patched.
The Solution
You can switch to a GNU/Linux distro. This is the most straightforward way. However, not all users will feel comfortable doing this. Some GNU/Linux distros are easier to use than others. Ubuntu is easier to use than Gentoo or Arch Linux, for example. Zoris OS is easy to use, as is Linux Mint. Some distros are good for security conscious people, such as Qubes and Whonix. Edward Snowden recommends Qubes.
Your grandparents probably aren’t going to be switching to Linux if they are like mine, who think the computer monitor is the “computer” and the tower is the “hard drive.” With some help, a more knowledgeable user could help set them up with a browser like Firefox, Ungoogled Chromium, or Brave Browser. Most people just use the Internet browser and maybe one or two apps.
There are many who aren’t able to switch from Microsoft Windows due to the need to run some proprietary apps like Adobe products or some gaming software. Or they are in school or using software that is required by the institution. For these people, they should consider using apps which help mitigate some of the spying. For example, Win10 Privacy runs scripts which turn off the telemetry, diagnostics, and other spying behaviors of Windows. The problem, however, is that Windows may still have spying mechanisms which are unknown and not covered by the program. Further, Microsoft could force new spying mechanisms hidden in updates as old spying behaviors are discovered and patched. Wikileaks Vault 7 exposed that the CIA and Unit 8200 collect known exploits and vulnerabilities in order to develop their spyware and surveillance software like Pegasus and Predator.
